P#40: The World's Happiest Big Sister
Who's having more fun in this picture -- baby or big sister?
This fantastic photo of a big sister holding her baby brother is another impulse shot -- one where the children posed themselves and stole the scene. Vik Orenstein explains the importance of being ready to catch that shot.
Aiming at the Camera
Vik Orenstein: This is another example where the subjects picked their own pose. We were almost done shooting again but I still had the lights and everything on. We were primarily going for a family shot but the little girl said, "Oh, I want a picture with my baby brother." (click the image for a larger version)
She just hiked him up over her shoulder and aimed herself at the camera and we got that shot. The baby was delighted and she was happy in being big sister. It was just one of those magic moments where again the client went and created the image for me.
To Conclude
Photography is about being ready to capture the moment when it shows up -- just like Vik Orenstein manages perfectly in this photo of a beaming big sister.
