At first glance this picture of figs and leaves just looks like an interesting still life shot, but upon closer inspection you discover there is a story being told here. Here Jo Whaley explains...

A Tale of Evolution

Jo Whaley: This picture of the figs and leaves is the last in the series I gave you. The series is called natura morta, or dead nature, and it involves spheres of influence. It shows these fig leaves on top and dropping figs onto open books. (click the image for a larger version)

Let's just say for this piece, you asked me to tell you which music for a piece I was using for inspiration... For this one I used a Gregorian chant because I wanted that sense of the infinite and sense of evolution and life turning in on itself over time.

In Closing

When Jo Whaley takes a picture, it's not just for aesthetic value. Her still life fine art photographs each have a story to tell. In the case of this photo of the figs and leaves, it's a story of evolution and live turning in on itself, as Jo explained during her 7 Photography Questions interview.
