Cheryl Machat Dorskind shares a toothless grin photograph starring her very own daughter. What does this image reveal? Through this heartwarming shot Cheryl teaches us that the photographs we think we want aren't always the photographs that capture the best memories. She goes on to explain during her 7 Photography Questions interview...

The Beauty of a Toothless Grin

Cheryl Dorskind: This photograph of a child with a toothless grin actually features my daughter, Joelle. I included this one to show that the toothless grin is really a wonderful memory to photograph.

Some parents want to get their children's photographs before they loose their teeth. I get a lot of requests for that and I always say, "A toothless grin is just so terrific, so full of personality. You might not want to skip it." (click the image for a larger version)

This toothless grin photograph of my daughter is a digitalized hand painted print. I did that in Photoshop with a black and white digital image that is painted with a digital brush. It's as nice as the real thing.

In Conclusion

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in trying to capture the memories we think we want that we overlook the memories we really should capture. That's what Cheryl Machat Dorskind reminds us of in this adorable photograph of a toothless grin.
