P#19: A Majestic Photo of a Tree in Fall
The graphic design of this autumn photo gives a look of royalty to this tree in fall
What is it about this ordinary tree that makes it appear so royal and commanding? Jim Zuckerman explains how he drew out the boldness of this striking tree in this dramatic autumn shot.
The Right Design
Jim Zuckerman: This picture of a tree in fall was taken in Tennessee. Again, look at the composition. You have a really nice balance and a nice shape there. The two areas of red leaves are nicely shaped and you have that massive tree trunk that forms a central dividing line. (click the image for a larger version)
I took this because of the graphic design. The shot was taken with a telephoto lens so I could isolate it from the surrounding area because the surrounding area did not add to the graphic design of the shot.
To Conclude
This beautiful shot really brings out the majesty and splendor of the photo's subject. This picture of a tree in fall is the perfect example of how the right shape and the proper composition can add drama and character to an otherwise ordinary shot.
