P#17 Q7B: What One Thing About Your Landscape Photography Interview Do You Want Our Listeners to Remember?
The one thing Bill Neill wants you to take away from his landscape photography interview
Bill Neill covered quite a bit of information during his landscape photography interview. I asked him what was the single most important thing he wanted our listeners to remember. Here is his answer...
Doing What You Love
Bill Neill: It's something I've said several times in different ways. Photograph what you love and practice hard. Try to stretch yourself. Try to stretch your imagination and don't settle for what everybody else is doing. Try to convey your personal perspective into your images.
And believe in yourself as an artist. Believe that you have a unique view and can express that through your work. You can't do it unless you believe it.
Getting More
Audri Lanford: That is a really profound point. Thanks so much, Bill. Before we close, can you tell our listeners what is the best way for them to learn more about the many things that you offer?
Bill Neill: I would have to say that my website, www.WilliamNeill.com, is the best place to go. You will find portfolios of my work and a store for some of the products I offer. You can also visit my blog where I share what I'm doing currently and new images as they are created. Sometimes there will be announcements there too.
You can also find links to my Better Photo classes on my website. I love teaching for Better Photo and I think they are a valuable resource for folks.
Audri Lanford: I promised at the beginning that I would mention a little bit more about Bill's ebook, which is called Landscapes of the Spirit. The reason I wanted to do this is because it is just so absolutely gorgeous. In it Bill includes 72 photographs. You've seen eight here, but the book offers 72 that will literally take your breath away.
There is a selection of poetry and text that is really beautiful, plus for those people who are really fond of this, and I am one of those people, he includes photographic notes that give the technical information for each photograph, plus notes about the creation of the images. He is offering all of this for $15, which I believe is just a complete steal.
I've never actually said this during a podcast before, and I don't earn a penny from this recommendation, but if you have even a little bit of interest in landscape photography, you simply need to get this ebook. The place to get it is www.WilliamNeill.com. I can't tell you how highly I recommend this ebook.
Bill Neill: I appreciate that. It is fairly high resolution so you can really get in and see the images. Also, if you want to keep posted with future ebooks, I recommend signing up for my newsletter.
In Closing
Part of being a great landscape photographer is really loving what you do, and practicing it often. If you believe in yourself and have a passion for your work, your landscape photography can grow to heights you never imagined before.
