P#4 Using Software To Combine Elements Like Lightning And A Cityscape

Lightning makes for a dramatic photo

| | Comments ()

Photographing lightning isn't easy. I guess I should say that taking good photographs of lightning isn't easy. Scott Stulberg explains how he managed to get this photo of lightning over downtown Los Angeles.

Arizona lightning over the city of Los Angeles

Scott Stulberg: The next photo is a photo of downtown Los Angeles. I superimposed lightning from Arizona. This is the kind of image, if you want to make money, to try and get good at because this image sells all the time. This is lightning over downtown L.A.

Usually you see lighting in a farm town or something like that... in the middle of the ocean, or whatever... but you don't see it over a big city. This one sells a lot. (click the image for a larger version)

You have to be good in Photoshop to do something like this, to make it look realistic. I tried to make this look as realistic as possible.

To summarize

Using Photoshop to combine lightning with other images makes for photographs that sell.
