P#4 Photographing The Wonder Of Petronas Towers In Kuala Lumpur
Taking four days to shoot Petronas Towers -- with remarkable results
This photograph of Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur is really something. It's truly awe-inspiring. Scott Stulberg explains how he encountered something that was so beautiful it made his jaw drop.
Beauty sells: the Petronas Towers
Scott Stulberg: This one brings up a good idea. This is the image of the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur. I had been watching the movie Entrapment. It was with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Sean Connery.
The focus of the movie had to do with this building. This was around the year 2000 -- for the millennium. The actors jumped out from the bridge at the middle that connects to both towers. I was so enthralled by this building I said, "I have to go there."
I planned a trip to go to Thailand and I bought tickets to go four hours from Thailand to Kuala Lumpur so that I could go to this building and photograph it. I think it's the tallest building in the world.
They were just gorgeous. I flew there. I took the taxi in. The second the driver took me there, I dropped dead right on my seat. I could not believe it.
When you're standing in front of this building it is the most amazing thing in the world. (click the image for a larger version)
I shot that building for the next few days until it started raining and I couldn't shoot anymore.
This image has been on the cover of magazines.
Anything new and exciting in the world is good. I'm going to be in Shanghai at the end of the year and I believe the tallest building in the world is there and is going to be finished for the Olympics in Beijing.
I'm going to be there a few months after that and I'm going to be shooting from every conceivable way the tallest building in the world in Shanghai. I am so excited. I've already watched the Discovery Channel special on it, how they're in the middle of building it now, and when it's going to be done.
You look for things like this. What is going to sell?
To conclude
This photograph of Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur shows that amazing images of spectacular buildings can be very viable subjects for stock photography.
