P#3 Q1: The Single Biggest Mistake Taking Nature Photographs
The elements of great nature photography
What's the biggest mistake beginners make when they make the leap into nature photography and try to capture the moment? Do they choose the wrong subject? Ignore the light?
Lewis Kemper explains the two vital components to great nature photographs.
Every nature photograph has two important elements
Lewis: The biggest mistake people make is they have to realize that a good picture is made up of two elements -- one is good light and the other is good subject matter and composition. You need to have both of them to have a really nice image.
If you have great light and no subject you really don't have a good picture. And if you have a great subject and horrible light, you don't end up with a good picture. It's a matter of tying these two things together and getting everything to fall into place at once. That makes the best images.
To summarize
Keeping these two elements in mind will lead you toward great nature photographs.
